Research Project Update

Getting going with this project has been very difficult. Between not being able to contact my group and my long commute, I am still struggling to meet with them. I have been looking into various aspects of the Non-Traditional Student community though and am trying to learn what I can about how many non-traditionals there are at St cloud State for example. Thanks to Professor Wexelbaum for the insights!

  1. Hi Cameron,

While you are waiting to meet with NTSO, you can go to the SCSU website and look for annual reports or other documentation on student demographics. This will tell you how many students in certain age ranges attend SCSU, and possibly current enrollment numbers. You can also take a look through the website and see if SCSU provides an official definition of "non-traditional". You might want to see if this definition matches that of the other resources you have found. Some schools limit "non-traditional" to students who are past a certain age (or younger than a certain age as well), while others expand the definition to disabled students, students who have recently been released from prison, veterans, homeless students, students in day programs for mental illness or brain injury, etc.

    See what you find out!
